The Cookery
Wednesday, January 18 was Laity Training directed by
Lauralee Stiffler. Lauralee gave us effective ways to lead our
church and spiritual guidance.
Our vision statement is
“Faith United Methodist Church seeks to be a dynamic, growing
community that gathers around Christ in work and worship to pray,
learn, care, share and serve together.
The week of January 14, the Cookery made four
huge pots of soup to be served to 50 people attending an all day
conference meeting and 80 UMW women attending the Tuscarawas
District Spiritual Growth Event on January 16. A labor of love to
work and serve together.
We also were able to deliver soup to
shut-ins. This is an example of sharing as a community in Christ.
Rice pudding—mmmm good, so comforting. I hear
this all the time, “My grandmother made this.” One of those warm
memories.

Recipe
of the Month
Rice
Pudding
(You need a pan with a heavy bottom
so it will not stick)
1/2 gallon milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup rice, rinsed well
1/4 cup butter or oleo (the butter prevents a skin on the milk while
cooking)
Cook slowly and stir from time to time for at least two hours.
When rice is cooked through,
Add: 1 cup raisins
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp nutmeg
A little salt if desired
Your pudding will be thin at this
point but will thicken as it cools.
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar when serving
