The Cookery
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells—I can hear them coming. Along with the
music comes gatherings with family and friends, lots of shopping and
good aromas from the kitchen preparing for Christmas celebrations.
Good things have been happening in the Cookery. On October 24 the
Cookery provided a coffee cake and fruit buffet after all services
on Celebration Sunday in the Gathering Area.
November 7 we were privileged to prepare a turkey dinner for
honored veterans and their spouses.
UMW hosted a successful Taster’s Tea on November 13. On November
14 the Youth Mission Team served brunch following each service.
Thanks to all who helped make these events possible.
2004 has been a rewarding and successful year. We look forward to
the new year serving our church in many ways.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Cookery. God bless
each of you.
Recipe of the Month
Molasses Crinkles
3/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses (I use Grandma’s)
2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger (I use less)
Mix butter, sugar, egg and molasses together. Blend flour and
spices, add to molasses mixture.
Drop cookie on cookie sheet and flatten with a drinking glass,
buttered and dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately
8 minutes.
These molasses cookies are a favorite at holiday time, especially
good with spiced cider.
